Attempt on traditional chocolate sponge cake last friday, have succeed in sponge cake with sponge gel before, so this time try without sponge gel, the sponge cake was successful.
Hardly practise icing a cake so this cake took me a long time to do a simple layer of icing.
Forgot to buy the bar chocolate for deco, so in the end the chocolate shaving wasn't sufficient to cover the whole Trenyce keep pinching chocolate bits from the side of the cake to the end the cake looks a bit ugly...LOL

Hi Jennifer

is it possible to post your recipe of sponge cake without stabilizer.

I tried baking sponge cake many times and failed. It deplete when flour is added and deplete further when oil is added. It has also very eggy taste.

Hi Shirley,

I didn't succeed at 1 try. I made mistake by adding the flour at 1 time which was wrong, should be adding the flour bit by bit and mix into the batter at the same time. You have to beat the egg and sugar till mixture is light and fluffy, you should be able to draw and 'O' on the batter when lift the whisk and doesn't sink after 10sec.
I will post the recipe end of this week, cos the book is not with me now.
